Educational Philosophy

YGU aims to nurture individuals who can contribute to society with a deep understanding of Japanese culture and a broad, international perspective, thus cultivating a rich cultural awareness and creativity in each of its students.

Educational Objectives by Department

Educational Objectives
Graduate School of Social Science The YGU Graduate School of Social Science aims to nurture broad perspective and profound scholarly knowledge, and foster outstanding abilities necessary for professions that require a high level of expertise as well as research skills in the public policy field.
Department of Law The mission of the YGU Faculty of Law is to contribute to the res publica by teaching law, and politics and public administration, training insightful personnel on the concepts of equity and justice. The Department of Law aims to provide a basic legal grounding, to nurture the ability to respond to the various problems facing modern day society from an equitable and fair perspective, and to educate people able to contribute to the realization of social justice.
Department of Politics & Public Administration The mission of the YGU Faculty of Law is to contribute to the res publica by teaching law, and politics and public administration, training insightful personnel on the concepts of equity and justice. The Department of Politics & Public Administration is involved in historical, theoretical, policy-orientated education and research relating to the concept of political society in which administration, citizens, and corporations are main actors, responding to modern day changes in the public arena, and aims to educate by promoting personal growth as people with public and social skills.
Department of Business Administration The mission of the YGU Faculty of Business Administration is to contribute to the res publica by teaching commercial science and training personnel needed for real business situations. The Department of Business Administration provides specialist knowledge of management, marketing, accounting, economics, etc., and aims to foster both the skills to put this knowledge into practice independently and the social skills and morality to show concern for society, a spirit of compliance with laws and regulations, and integrity.
Department of Nutrition The mission of the YGU Faculty of Health and Nutrition is to contribute to the res publica by teaching nutrition and training personnel to be actively involved in fields relating to food and health. The Department of Nutrition provides training in skills enabling nutrition management intended to maintain or improve health and mitigate or prevent diseases in the fields of health, medicine, education, welfare, and nursing care. It focuses on training registered dietitians, and aims to educate by supporting resources that contribute to improving dietary habits and health in regional societies.
International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) The YGU International College of Liberal Arts aims to contribute to the international and regional community by using teaching focused on outstanding English communication skills and a global perspective to nurture practical personnel who have specialist knowledge with a global outlook.
Department of Sport Science The YGU Faculty of Sport Science aims to contribute to the promotion of sport in Japan and abroad by training personnel capable of facilitating a virtuous cycle between top sport (sport for athletes) and community sport (sport for all). It provides students with the knowledge and skills in the sport science field, and develops their competitive and athletic skills.
